Fleischmann 93 7362 – NS Class 1600 Electric Locomotive

If you’re looking for a finely detailed N-scale electric locomotive with Dutch railway heritage, the Fleischmann 93 7362 is an excellent choice. This model represents the NS Class 1600, a series of electric locomotives that operated in the Netherlands from the early 1980s.

The Real-Life Prototype

The Class 1600 was introduced by Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) in 1981. These locomotives were built by Alstom (formerly MTE), based on the French SNCF BB 7200 series. They were mainly used for both passenger and freight services, with a reputation for reliability and versatility. Over the years, some units were transferred to Railion (now part of DB Cargo) and even repainted in different liveries.

The Fleischmann Model

Fleischmann has a strong reputation for quality and detail, and this model does not disappoint. Some key features include:

  • Highly detailed bodywork, including fine lettering and accurate livery.
  • Operational sprung pantographs, allowing power collection from either the rails or catenary.
  • Die-cast metal chassis, ensuring smooth and stable operation.
  • Drive on 8 wheels, with 2 traction tires for enhanced grip.
  • Directional triple headlights, switching automatically with travel direction.
  • Automatic couplings, making it easy to integrate into your rolling stock.

This version of the NS Class 1600 is modeled in Era V (1990s–2000s) and features the distinctive Schiphol Railion livery. Measuring 109 mm in length, it is an ideal fit for N-scale layouts focusing on Dutch railway operations

If you’re a fan of Dutch railways or looking for a reliable electric locomotive for your layout, the Fleischmann 93 7362 is a fantastic addition!
