A BR Britannia class locomotive (Minitrix) with Pullman coaches, passes the lake next to the village of Betwixt, with the MPD for the village station in the background.

@Tonybolony73 Thank you. I have to be honest and say it is a little flat in places, but I have tried to make the best of it. I have had several goes at building using the open board method, and then infilling with scenery, but always ended up having to move house before it was finished, so never got to use it. This time I went for speed of getting the track down so I could start using the layout and then adding scenery bit by bit afterwards.

@Chris47120 In this case, I feel like it is working for you!
Are your buildings kits or scratch built? I love the ones that I can see

@Tonybolony73 There are a complete mixture of building types. The engine shed and water tower directly behind are Hornby Minitrix, so are probably around 45 years old (?) Whilst plastic, they were quite well done, and I wanted to use them for nostalgic reasons, rather than authenticity. The windmill and coal mine in the far left distance are Hornby Lyddle End, which I had collected, although they are not really to scale, as although designed for N gauge, their portions are out scale for many things. However, a lot of the buildings I have are Metcalfe card kits which are quite nice. It is also quite therapeutic putting them together. A lot of people think they are oversize, but I think they are more true to life and scale. There is a tendency to make things slightly small, so you can fit stuff in, such as with the Lyddle End.
